Reactions to FOX's redesign:
Jeff M.: The new FoxNews.com is absolutely horrible. My first reaction was that it looked like a tabloid, although the New York Post doesn't even look this bad. I counted 7 Non-Fox News advertisements on the first page. Even on a cable modem, the page takes forever to woo the load because it is way to graphics and flash intensive. They should return to their old version and try again. This time, not changing it until it actually looks good. MSNBC.com is much better.

Anonymous: Foxnews.com is about as bombastic as O'Reilly. It's one ugly site and very confusing to look at. Go teach them how to design it!

Anonymous: Who in hell designed the Fox News website? A 10 year old. Actually a 10 year old could have done a better job. Why are the graphics so cheesy?

Keith: I thought it was cool, and ahead of its time. It is something I will have to get use too, but that is only a matter of time. The format is the reason I say it is ahead of its time. It is wider, more organzied and cramed with information just a click away. I like the expanding folder tabs and as a web developer will be looking to see how they did a lot of the innovations on the site.

Dakota: It's BAD - I'm on DSL and it takes 4 times longer to load and switch between pages at the site. Every web designer knows that's a NONO. Also, it is very difficult to find links to individual shows and contact information.

Anonymous: The FoxNews.com redesign is terribly, awfully bad.

Tom: Fox News' new site - quite possibly the slowest website I've ever gone to - and I work at a telecommunications company with a pretty darn fast Internet connection.

Robert: Fox News web redesign...it's very busy...what's with the falling news menu thingie on the right side? Does it ever stop? It should have a crashing sound effect when it does. Tony Snow, in the upper right corner, looks like a game show host on amphetamines.

MediaMovies&Politics;: Although I initially disliked the new FoxNews web redesign, it didn't take me long to get used to it. The great thing about it is that it emphasises the strengths of the site that previously were easy to miss - namely the videos and the blogs. However, I do agree that on first impression it is a bit of an eye sore.

Beverly: I like the new format. I really like the video clips. Very cool. CNN makes you pay for video clips! They are nuts if you ask me. Would like to see more stories about the campaigns, though. Did we forget we have to elect a president?

Peggy: All I can say is that it's OK once one gets past the blurry blue page which comes before the content! I find that I'm blinking a few times to assure myself that I'm not losing my vision.
Anonymous: I checked it out and I really like the new Fox site. It is not as busy and the colors are great.

Anonymous: Never a big fan of the FNC site, but now I find it even less palatable. Yikes. Give me MSNBC.com any day. Not much "news" on the front page.

Anonymous: My PC kicks butt and I've got a broadband connection and the site is still slow. Maybe it's just a lot of people checking out the redesign. But it's just too much of everything! YUCK!

Anonymous: Reaction to the FOXNews.com Redesign--I feel sorry for folks that want to view it and have dial up internet access. I have dsl and it took over a minute for me to view it. PLUS where is everything. Where's the news. They make sure you know where the BLOGS are and the links for the merchandise. U have to go searchin for the news, it's buried somewhere, i think.

Anonymous: Re the FoxNews.com redesign: even on a 1.5GHz machine with 1GB of RAM and a fast DSL connection, the site is even slower than Kiran Chetry's mind.
A forwarded e-mail from Mark:
That new website is really working out great...

11am posts:
Mark: "I was looking forward to the FNC web redesign. But even my anticipation couldn't prepare me for what I saw. Content wise, it seems fine; the organization seems improved as well. But the look? It's atrocious! It's like some teenage programming student has gone mad with Flash animations and javascripts. Where does your eye go when it hits the page...to the top story? I don't think so. There's too much bouncing and moving and descending going on to distract you! Has someone there outlawed the use of white space? This site is sure to get mentioned on one of those web pages that highlights bad html programming."

Ron: Worse then it was before. Not much in the way of news content on front page either. Looks more like a promo and ad dump then a news web site to me.

Jeff: Wow, that new FOX News site design is the worst, most eye-splitting, over-busy, garish site I have seen since about 1994. Very unprofessional looking.

Chuck: It's awesome!! It looks like there will be a dedicated page to "Breaking Point" and "Sunday Best," which is GREAT! I must say I do like the addition of having Brooke Alexander preview the day ahead... The new interface IS going to take some getting used to, but all in all, I like it!!

Anonymous I'm on a pokey dial-up. The Fox News Website takes forever to load.

Anonymous: I think that the new foxnews.com website is totally totally awesome and eaiser to read.

Anonymous: About the Faux New website redesign... the picture of Tony Snow in the upper right-hand corner is downright freakish.

Anonymous: comments: I think the new fox site is one of the worst i have ever seen. MSNBC is about a million times better.

Markus: This page is a joke. I almost only see ads, so many different colors, the layout and the perforance on weak pc's (at school) is horrible.
