FOX's Fair & Balanced Watch: Bashing the W.H. Press Corps
Linda Vester unveiled a new feature on DaySide yesterday afternoon. It's called "F&B; Watch," short for fair and balanced, of course. "Each Friday you get to grade the press -- are we fine, or out of line?," she introed, then showed a clip from John Roberts of CBS News doing an excellent job demanding an answer from Scott McClellan. "Yow! Fair and balanced, yes or no?," Vester asked. "No," the audience yelled. I'm sorry, Dayside audience members, but the press corps have a job to do... (Here's the video.) 2:56:34 PM

Is Dennis Miller Funny?
NBC has released some quotables from last week's Dennis Miller shows. None of them are laugh-out-loud. "A letter seized in Iraq shows that Osama Bin Laden needs to do more recruiting. It says the problem is that many first-time Al Qaeda recruits do not return to the group after their first suicide bombing." "Dennis Miller's ratings have fallen through the floor," a TVHeads member noted yesterday... 2:55:45 PM

Never Hurts to Repeat A Random, Unsourced Accusation, Right?
A reader e-mails in: "Neil Cavuto the past two days has been leading his "biz" show with strident defenses of Dr. Atkins. Are/were they financial buds?" The only thing I know for sure is that "biz" should definitely be in quotes -- it often seems that Cavuto and CNBC = apples and oranges. 'Cavuto on Business' "sized up the latest diet fads" with a guest this morning... 2:53:52 PM

Quote of the day
Sigh...another e-mail accusing me of being biased. Apparently I'm too negative about CNN, now. So here's a negative FOX one. A CJR interview with Ken Auletta has some great comments about FOX: "Fox News has had a decided impact on its cable competitors. Its impact on journalism in general is less clear. I believe that by harping on what they allege is a liberal bias in the press, Fox News has made other journalists more conscious of subliminal biases, which is a good thing. By beating up on journalists for being insufficiently patriotic during the Iraq war, Fox News sometimes had a chilling affect, which is a bad thing." Auletta says he thinks the "norm of objectivity is a false God"... 12:39:54 PM

Behind the Scenes At FOX
FOX Fans can go behind the scenes of Studio B in a photo essay. Also, Greta offers a peek at her office, and shows off FOX's office at the State Department, in a Friday GretaWire update... 10:15:15 AM

Not Touching It With a Ten Foot Pole
An interesting note about the Kerry rumors, and the difference between radio versus television, over at Free Republic: "What I can't understand is how Sean Hannity and Dick Morris were all over this on Sean's radio show yesterday afternoon, but never mentioned it all on Hannity & Colmes nor on the O'Reilly Factor last night (Dick Morris was Bill's guest). What's going on? I'm assuming Fox News isn't running with the story until it's confirmed?" ChronWatch complains about the dearth of coverage. I think they're doing their job, efforting to find facts... 10:14:45 AM

Which One Does Not Belong?
Does anyone else have a problem with this headline from the 'On The Story' preview e-mail?: "Terrorism, TV indecency & Talk about Atkins." Do the last two really deserve the same amount of attention as the first?... 12:10:10 AM

Praise:

Because I'm not that modest, and I want to hype the site:

LostRemote: "Tuesday night's speed blogging awards go to the Command Post, CableNewser and Oliver Willis. Carpal tunnel, anyone?"

DCRTV: "Man, I don't know who runs the CableNewser site, but if Shep Smith or Anderson Cooper farted in New Hampshire, this local DC-Baltimore area blogger covered it. Amazing..."

Rantingprofs: "Cablenewser...more and more a must read every day"
